John + Paul

TEAM EFFORT FOR A BEAUTIFUL PAIR

Whirlwind event planning for a lasting love

As is common these days, these two lovebirds met online. (John sent Paul a few messages with little success, until eventually “John’s perseverance and winning smile caught Paul’s eye.”) Their wedding planning process proved a challenge since the duo had less than a month before relocating to Germany. They searched high and low for a venue that could support the short-notice wedding and still provide a beautiful ceremony; they also chose this destination since Colorado is a strong supporter of LGBTQ rights and they desired its welcoming and inclusive environment. Thanks to their frequent visits here, the couple says the Hotel Monaco and Panzano restaurant had evolved into a “home away from home.” Paul initially contacted Sandi about their not-quite-an-elopement predicament, and she came to the rescue in countless ways. The couple gushes, “Of course hotels are supposed to care about their customers, but Paul and I could see the genuine happiness that the hotel staff felt for us when offering their congratulations.”

Memorable Details

The wedding morning was low-key, involving breakfast with some out-of-town friends and discussing a few final details with Sandi. Paul took his time getting ready; John comments, "His makeup and hair styling isn't ever a short affair, but it is always on point." While John's prep time was quicker, he admits to worrying he might have missed something on his Air Force Mess Dress, leading him to double- and triple-check his "accouterments."

"We are still in awe over how beautiful our ceremony was, and how complete the wedding felt."

The couple says that, simply put, they chose Monaco and Panzano because without them, the Brodzinski-Ditty wedding wouldn't have happened (due to an upcoming overseas move and crunched timeline).

Although the guest list was small, all of the family attended the ceremony in the Wine Cellar room, marked by an artful ambiance and "spectacular" lighting with hues of green and purple. Wedding minister (Vince Tango) captured the desired spirit of their event, which was secular in nature yet steeped in tradition. During one of the most poignant moments, the wedding rings were passed around for each guest to warm in his/her hands and to bless with prayers and well wishes.

After a brief intermission, the ceremony area was transformed into the reception space. Two highlights included: a tiramisu cake with "Mr. and Mr. Brodzinski" decorated on top, and the mother-son dance. The couple jokes, "John doesn't dance. Correction, John can't dance, but he danced with his mother, and you could feel love filling the room."
